The city of Nara is a rice-growing region in the coldest part of Nara prefecture. For that reason, the rice cultivated there is delicious. Our company is located at the base of the mountains north of Tsugemikumari Shrine. Long ago, we used well-polished white rice to make sake mold and fermenting mash; the sake we made, known as “Morohaku,” was a famous product of Nara prefecture. It is a historical fact that, when Oda Nobunaga entertained Tokugawa Ieyasu at Azuchi Castle, he had “Nara Morohaku” brought in. The “Morohaku” trademark, very like that of Nara’s famous Morohaku, shows that the drink’s light flavor, which drinkers do not grow tired of, has been enjoyed since antiquity.
